Our designers

We work closely with designers from all over the world – from emerging new talent to large, prestigious design studios. And just like the changing Scandinavian seasons, they are not afraid of change, but all share a common passion for natural materials, sustainable solutions and for new creative perspectives on Scandinavian design.

Nature, colours, raw materials and tactility are transformed into beautiful designs, all tailor-made and perfected by hand, designed to appeal to all your senses and invite you to touch, feel and fall in love.

The renowned design duo Glismand & Rüdiger come from Denmark – an origin that is clearly expressed in their design language. For them, Scandinavian design is not a label, but a commitment in their work and a concept they like to interpret in new and modern ways. Inspired by Scandinavian nature and traditional materials, they design furniture that is based on simplicity, excellent craftsmanship and honest materials.

“We have a shared passion for Scandinavian design and natural materials. Sustainability is at the core of all our new designs. Right from the initial sketch to the final design, because the most important thing for us is to create beautiful designs that can survive different trends and generations.”

The German design duo's goal is to create simple and intuitive products - something that isn't over-complicated, yet is still beautiful. They strive to design functional products that are simple and straightforward, yet poetic.

"For us, good design is when it feels like it's never been any different. Something that makes sense when you look at it, or something that gives you an intense feeling of pleasure."

My style is characterized by keeping the focus on the detail and "edge" that separates my designs from the crowd. One of my biggest influences is to register how much diversity there is among people and try to meet the very different needs that it creates.

I've always been fascinated by the craftsmanship and the interaction between craftsman and designer. Good design is what gives meaning and value to the people who use it.

Michael H. Nielsen

My designs are characterized through fine structures, certain transparencies and subtle details adapted in pure shapes. My designs aim towards an aesthetic synergy of material and form. I believe that a decorative element should walk hand in hand with a useful purpose. For me, function and aesthetic are a unified whole.

We are Nikolaj and Kasper. We are Says Who Design. We like to tell stories through our products. Stories that add character and relevance to the user experience. We love simple, clever yet masculine design. Rawness expressed through refined details. We always strive to add personality to the product. An edge or feature that defines its use, style or statement.

Good design is useful, characteristic and tells a story. It leaves a lasting impression that enriches our lives in ways we never thought of before. When design is at its best, it enriches our everyday lives and experiences.

Says Who

We’re a design studio based in Berlin exploring all aspects of furniture, lighting and interior design. For us, design is an inseparable part of our lives, it’s an expression of our personality and a creative reflection of the society that surrounds us. We see opportunities in everything around us, and it’s the everyday experiences that inspires us the most.
Our goal is to create simple yet original designs that solve a complex problem in an innovative and functional way. It’s essential that techniques, materials and aesthetics come together, and we believe great design should challenge the conventional and mundane.

BÖTTCHER & KAYSER

I am a passionate and dedicated designer. I simply love my job. I love working with design objects that supports our senses. The designs we surround ourselves with everyday, must be able to support our everyday lives. A good design help’s you on a daily basis, without you ever thinking about it.

Henrik Sørig Thomsen

Berlin is often our inspiration. We like it as it is: metropolitan, creative and direct. But as well travelling around, in other countries, seeing things that strike your eyes is where creative ideas are being born… Sometimes the best ideas come in the most unexpected situations!

First of all we are inspired by the materiality of things. That’s why we work very early on materials and prototypes in scale 1:1.

At the beginning of a design project usually there is a conceptual idea that we are trying to realize as soon as possible in models and prototypes.

But sometimes some of our design projects have a strong conceptual character that allows them to appear in different ways depending from their materiality.

Hertel & Klarhoefer

Our ideas for furniture design come from a big “box” hidden away in the back of our minds. A box full of fragments of design, shapes, materials, feelings and functions. All the things furniture design is made of. Ideas from dreams, pictures that we have seen or something that people have said or told.

We store all these inspirations, mix them up and put them on paper. Some end up as new designs, others are thrown back in the box for later use.

OOOJA

The most important thing for this design duo is to design durable products. They believe that if you use the right materials for the different parts and components, and create an appealing, beautiful design, the owner will love the furniture forever.

"We like to incorporate the views of others – both in terms of the design itself and the technical challenges. Asking questions is a very important part of the process. We do it all the time. We always think carefully about our ideas. From the initial thought to the final product."

We believe that design, as much as art, should be integrated into everyday life. A great design should be consistent and cohesive; it should not only fulfill form and functionality, but also create experiences and evoke emotions among the users.

The Italian design studio, Ferriani Sbolgi, is driven by experiments and a cooperative approach to the design process where both designers agree on a direction and outline before transforming into new creative designs. Their design language is based on sleek silhouettes and clean stripped-down lines and details, and their products seek to communicate a certain emotion with the viewer and user.

Each new design is seen as an opportunity for experimentation, and they ascribe fundamental importance to finding materials and ideas that will add value to their final design. They seek the new, the bold and the different, but always with timeless taste and quality craft in mind. A striking balance achieved in an effortless manner shown in their beautiful work.

When Adam Friedman develops a piece of furniture or object, he asks himself: what is the conversation about? Does this design only talk or is it also able to listen? When you live with an object, it stirs emotions in you. It's either something obvious or something more subconscious – it's a daily interaction in your life, and an important one.

"The importance and value of an object reveals itself over time and reflects the considerations and patience invested in the design process. It is in this process that I try to design objects that listen and effortlessly adapt to the changing needs of a home and the people living in it."

Quaglio Simonelli is a design duo comprised of two creative individuals, both born in Italy and now based in Paris.

Thinking that diversification is a source of creative richness, we design technology products, furniture, lighting and decorative objects, conceive the visual identity and product design for beauty brands, alternating industrial logic with an artisanal approach.

Our complementary sensibilities induce our designs with the creative gaze of two histories combined. Inspired by the world that surrounds us and by our own impacts and interpretations.

We create design that appears familiar at first glance, but at the same time it's adorned with unexpected, almost poetic elements. Our philosophy is 'never see things as they are'.

Quaglio Simonelli

As the world grows ever more complicated, we strive to create simple and meaningful getaways, retreats and pieces of design with a unique experience for the demanding customer.

The spaces that surround us have great impact on the quality of our lives. Hence, we dedicate our professional lives to contribute to the Scandinavian heritage of architectural design – the art of designing holistic and immersive experiences.

We really do believe that simple and attractive aesthetics can heighten the feeling of being alive and add a certain degree of mental health to our existence. Our wish is to design objects that hold the potential of achieving that goal.

We design objects when we are presented to a given possibility to contribute with something beautiful and meaningful. It is not a crusade but an invitation.

Studio Finna is a Helsinki-based studio established by design duo Anni Pitkäjärvi and Hanna-Kaarina Heikkilä. The duo has been working since 2014 with a wide range of projects, from furniture design to interior design and architecture. Their works have been exhibited in Italy, the UK, Finland, Sweden and Mexico and widely shared in numerous international blogs and magazines.

Oliver Schick was born in the small German town, Darmstadt. A town with an artistic cultural background, that has since grown as a vivid inspiration in his work. His design approach and aesthetic are to fuse simplistic ideas with grand stories that create a mood or feeling in the user and viewer. This clearly comes to show in his many beautiful projects, where minor changes and unexpected details add a lively character and dimensions to each design.

His aim is to design products with a timeless character that is easy to understand and decode. Design should be easy to use, and the idea easily communicated to the viewer and user without becoming trivial or freed from identity. He believes that good design should tell a story, and not only fulfill a need, striking a beautiful balance between usage of the design and the story it communicates so well.

David and Nina are the creative minds behind the German design studio, Design Studio NIRUK. Their design philosophy is aesthetic, pragmatic and always based around user needs. They are inspired by nature, and working with authentic, pure materials and contours, shapes, tactility and new techniques are essential elements for the creative duo.

Design Studio NIRUK always like to experiment and push themselves when designing new products. They think out of the box, working away from the ordinary towards the extraordinary, where they combine traditional craftsmanship with new ideas. Their designs have a clear design language, a sharp contour and are authentic products full of life, history and character.

Design Studio NIRUK

Our goal is to create subtle and practical products you can relate to. We love it when a design feels simple and yet complete, and where nothing more can be done or added. We focus on a single idea in the design process that supports our process as a whole, and we draw our inspiration from different materials and techniques.

On an aesthetic level, we are drawn to two-dimensional, graphic forms and their clean expression, and this is the aesthetic quality and clarity we try to achieve in our designs. For us, good design is more than a specific idiom or design – it is also about designing products that create value for the user for a very long time.

Arnau Reyna is based in Valencia, Spain. Ramón Arnau and Mariola Reyna are both architects and industrial designers and strive to design products that connect with the user and the space they inhabit – timeless pieces that are not influenced by passing trends. “We believe in design as a strategy, an intangible tool that is a fundamental pillar for companies as a driver of productivity and growth. Australian designer Emily Broom takes an interdisciplinary approach to design that combines an education in architecture together with interior design and visual communication.

She is excited about the intersection between interiors, products, people and spaces and the enriching experience you get when these things fuse together. With an eye for beautiful geometry, she appreciates good craftsmanship and quality materials:

"Tactility, shape and composition are key factors in the design process. I like getting my fingers dirty so I can better understand and experience the design as it evolves. I believe it helps my designs become more free, intuitive and hopefully richer."

The Danish designer and Medical student, Asger Risborg Jakobsen, is inspired by the complexity and still awing simplicity of nature.

When designing, he’s always breaking his ideas down, leaving room for only the essentials. Like function, beauty, character and craft, and making leave a powerful, but simple impression. For him, aiming towards simplicity means he can create beautiful long-lasting designs reflected and affected by their surroundings.

Asger Risborg Jakobsen

We always say that we design for people, and that's what defines us as designers. We try to do things simple and functional without forgetting the freshness.

We are inspired by our everyday surroundings. Even if we are at home or we travel around the world we catch the essence of each place and give it to our designs.

The perfect design is that one that makes an object simple and easy. The best design is defined by the little details.

The Danish designer Thomas Brido Petersen is a designer with an innate sense of curiosity. A curiosity and urge to create beyond the ordinary. His design process is driven by spontaneity and desire, and he doesn't create new designs at the behest of others. Instead, his inner curiosity and fundamental needs are the key factors to shape his new thoughts and ideas. Thoughts that he can't let remain just thoughts, but which have to come off the drawing board and be formulated into a prototype that he can feel, touch and examine.

Thomas Brido Petersen's designs are therefore inspired by his inner urge to create, innovate and perpetuate the creative ideas that spontaneously arise. A snapshot presented in beautiful designs where spontaneity, needs and aesthetics are fused in a unique way.

Thomas Brido Petersen

We believe our products are sober-looking, formally balanced and attractive. We love to lavish attention on details as we believe that the quality of products is often judged by the quality of their details. We try to make products with clean lines, yet warm and attractive for the public.

When we design, we simply want to create seductive products we’d love to have in our own homes. We have special concern for architecture and crafts which are elements that inspire us beyond the trends of the moment.

Ramos Bassols

The development of all our projects aims to achieve simple solutions, both technical and formal, privileging usability and legibility of the object. Through this process, we define our ideas reinterpreting traditional or innovative materials to make gentle life companions.

Inspirations are everywhere. What matters is to be receptive. We try to be influenced by a great variety of stimulus... always searching for inspirations, during our working time or free time, always keeping our eyes open. This is our state of mind.

Great design is, when looking at an object, the first thought is: it could only be so ...and after observing him longer: yes, there is no way to improve it, it’s perfect!

Busetti Garuti Redaelli

My design studio is based in Berlin, which is from where my quirky mind comes up with new designs. Materials and colours are what makes crazy and happy, that is what inspires me to go forward. I have an easygoing approach to the design process, which to me, shall always be liberal and fun – that is very inspiring in itself.

Joa Herrenknecht

With an honest approach to design, we strive to create designs that push your boundaries and create value in your everyday life. We love challenging our creative and methodological approach in order to create products and furniture that make sense and possess great personality. A product design should awaken your curiosity and even make you smile. We are always ready for giving you our say on tomorrow's designs.

Steffensen & Würtz

My home country of Ukraine is an inspiration to my industrial designs; its ever-changing transformations inspire me. I always try to catch cultural differences and uniqueness of the countries that I visit. To me a great design is a mixture of three important ingredients: simplicity, functionality, and passion.

Kateryna Sokolova

We are an interdisciplinary design studio composed of different personalities, backgrounds and perspectives, which create a dynamic design process. We are inspired by our surroundings and the world we live in. Materials, structures, colours, forms and hidden details that pique our curiosity. All helping to shape every single design, which express different reflections and ideas. Our designs are therefore a direct result of the interaction that takes place. Between us and the designers and between us and the outside world.

e-ggs design

We get inspired by life. We want to have a curious and playful approach to our work in terms of expression, materials and the people. But with a high understanding of form, function and details. A small touch of humour is also important.

Great design for us is when our work makes someone else happy.

Morten & Jonas

In my opinion, great designs share some basic characteristics: they are simple, easy to understand and functional, but they are also innovative. Designs that incorporate all of these elements - and are at the same time aesthetic and well-proportioned - are to me a source of great inspiration and enthusiasm.

My aim as a designer is to reach that feeling of achieving "something extra" when combining functionality and aesthetics. I am inspired by traditional craftsman skills and techniques, but also by rethinking and reusing aspects of such techniques in new ways.

As a consequence my designs are minimalistic, simple and revolves around a theme; a joining detail, a way of combining materials or turning traditional material use upside down

Tine Ottesen Stride

To me, design has to make sense. Shape, colour and choice of materials have to add up and make sense to each and every single design. Good design is functional, beautiful and easy to understand.

365° North

We seek for beauty in the truth of shapes and materials, creating objects that aim to speak through our culture, traditions and memories. We are inspired by personal and collective experiences and stories - as well as by the history of design itself.

Studio Gud

A great design is sincere, functional and recognizable. It’s always useful, long-lasting and environmentally friendly. A great design is one that becomes irreplaceable through innovation. At 201 Design Studio, we try to keep the aesthetics simple and easy to recognize. We aim at balancing function, ergonomics, means of production and aesthetics when developing a product. We’re always keeping an open eye on everything that surrounds us – looking for inspiration for new designs.

201 Design Studio

My designs are stringent, functional and poetic at the same time. I have a great passion for honest craftsmanship and good materials, and my background as a designer and craftsman affects all the choices I make. I choose my materials with care, and I treat each material differently with great respect and curiosity for how they behave alone or when they're interacting with others. I do all this to create the perfect design where aesthetics, functionality and good craftsmanship are harmoniously fused together.

Pascal Bosetti

We are inspired from whatever we see and wherever we go, and we always try to integrate small details that either give the products a special functionality or make you smile...

We take social responsibility in both our internal and external work as we believe the customer should feel confident about our products.
