For us, great design is not only what meets the eye, but just as importantly, how it is created – and the way it makes us feel. That is why our collection is created by a brilliant community of designers from around the world. From brave new talents to world-renowned design studios – all with a shared passion for sustainable ideas, natural materials and New Scandinavian Design.
And since our humble beginnings, we’ve grown into a grand, international family of more than 800 creative individuals, working in our design stores around the world – from Copenhagen to Berlin, to Paris, Singapore and beyond. All our stores are designed to inspire, and our wonderful colleagues are there to help. So, you are always welcome to pop by for a cup of organic coffee and a lovely chat. Our Bolia family also includes 58 talented designers, 39 skilled European manufacturers and more than 500 trusted design partners around the world, as well as lots of valued specialists from all walks of life. Our journey doesn't end here. We're always chasing new ideas, new horizons, and new ways to make the world a bit more beautiful. Because the spaces we create are who we are.
The hands that shape our ideas
Our craftsmen and -women are the true stars of our business, shaping our ideas and bringing your design dreams to life and we are proud to introduce the good people who create it, who they are, where they work and their inspiring stories and steps towards a lower climate impact.
Based in places like Italy, Poland, Germany, as well as Denmark, our tiny home country. In fact, almost all furniture designs – which account for 89% of our total sales – are handmade in Europe, crafted one piece at a time. Securing the high quality, eliminating overproduction, and minimising the climate footprint of transportation.
Everyone in Bolia has an important voice, and we share our knowledge and ideas to improve our work – and our world. At Bolia, we are radical optimists, believing that the world is slowly changing for the better and that our creative minds, combined, will constantly find new ways forward and battle the challenges we face along the way. We believe that a more sustainable way forward is all about positive choices—the thousands of choices we make every day as politicians, board members, leaders, colleagues, family members, consumers, and individuals. We are on a journey towards something better, and we will surely make mistakes on our path forward, but we are honest, open-minded, positive, dedicated, and high on creativity.
Welcome to our creative base
Bolia was established in 2000. Our international HQ is located in the heart of the cultural city of Aarhus, in beautiful, historic buildings dating back to 1862, originally serving as locomotive workshops for the Danish railways. We have restored and furnished this beautiful setting with respect for its unique history and architecture. Here you will also find a very special Bolia flagship store – a place where we test new designs, concepts, and ideas before they are launched globally and a store we use for training of new colleagues and partners from around the world. You are always welcome to pop by for a cup of coffee and experience it for yourself.
