For me, design is about balance. My approach is a sculptural and intuitive exploration of colour, material, form and texture that is counterbalanced by a curiosity and desire to create functional objects that can be enjoyed and that can endure.
Inspiration can come from many areas, and I find that art, architecture, as well as my daily intake of visual detail — the materials, textures, colours and patterns I see through random observations in my everyday are my primary sources of inspiration. Exploring and translating these observations into my own formal language is a large part of my process.
Design can communicate so much about a specific time and place and how we live as individuals. I feel that good design not only performs its intended function seamlessly well, but also contributes to this greater dialogue.
