Sarah Fredelund, Denmark
My inspiration and motivation derives from the meeting between the built and the placed – a continuation of the proud Danish design traditions, where the fields of architecture and design intervenes. I am fascinated by the frames which are created for living and the way in which people then curate, arrange and habituate their space and hereby make architecture come to live through design.
My work is a continuous exploration of basic geometry, composition of shapes, the visual and haptic qualities of materials and the tension that arises where different materials meet.
I find that light is common denominator throughout my projects, whether it’s architecture or design. Light affects our understanding of materials and shapes for both the objects and the rooms surrounding them, making each design piece relate to the context in which it is places. In this way both the space and the object add value to one another.
